In addition to the Highborn vampire, numerous tweaks have been made to existing enemy types. Many of the game’s foes have had their attack patterns adjusted to make them more challenging adversaries, while others have had their damage increased or abilities tweaked.

The player character Jesse has also seen improvements and additions to his move set. A charged uppercut move can be used to launch enemies into the air for follow-up attacks, while a ground pound attack can take out multiple foes at once with an electric shockwave. Jesse’s ranged weapons have been upgraded as well: aiming down sights automatically switches to the rifle for longer range engagements while pressing shoot alone fires his revolver. Other weapons like shotguns and special weapons are assigned individual buttons for easier access during battle. There is no ammo system; instead all weapons work on cooldowns.
